Another house on Edisto Beach was burned this week.  One of Edisto's local family's home was burned yesterday.  The home luckily sustained only minor damage.  The Fire officials called the fire suspicious because the fire started outside the home and are investigating the cause of the blaze.  Here is  a photo of the house before the fire-

Edisto Real Estate

Edisto Real Estate-Are you under-water in your Mortgage?

Experts say that nearly 1 in 4 home owners are under-water in their mortgage.  Meaning  that their homes are worth less they owe on the balance of the Mortgage.  As you probably already know, the Edisto Beach area’s values in the past 18 months have dropped 40 to 50 percent.  Now that your home is worth ½ of what you paid and you are probably making less income than previous. Many homeowners say they can see the writing on the wall.  Why continue to pay more for a property than its worth?  Why not just ‘Walk Away?  That would the easy solution…but we are all faced with the moral and legal dilemma of walking away.  Here is a clip that was recently on the Today Show…

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Over Half of the delinquent borrowers did not know that their lenders may have alternatives to help them avoid foreclosure. A lender would much rather try to work thru the situation than face the expense and time of foreclosing on a property.

If you are a homeowner struggling to stay current with mortgage payments who has experienced a change in income or other financial hardships-there are programs and plans that you may qualify to Help you get thru your situation.  To “Walk Away” from your property would be the worst possibly decision that you could make.

Please call me for a confidential consultation. It would be an honor to serve you during these trying times.  There is HOPE!

On the next blog, I will discuss some of the options that you have beside “Walking Away”.

An Edisto must-see. Whether you love reptiles or hate them,
you’ll come away with a better understanding of their role in
our ecosystem. Created by the Clamp family, it sits right on
Hwy. 174 just before the Old Post Office Restaurant as you leave the beach.
